How a live duel works
- Same reef, same moment. You and your rival play identical reefs at the same time. Your rival swims through yours as a pink hologram, and their own reef shows in the corner.
- Most points: 3 minutes, most points wins. Getting eaten costs a life, not the duel. If one of you runs out of lives, the other wins the moment they pass that score.
- Last fish swimming: one life each. First one eaten loses. Both still swimming at the end? Most points wins.
- The Aurora Ray turns up a few times a duel, at random moments (no pattern to learn), in both reefs at once, at the same spot near each of you. Catch it first: +2,000 points, and 2 seconds later your rival is cursed for 6 to 7 seconds with one of these:
- Shark Ambush: two hungry sharks bigger than them swim in. · Riptide: a current drags them sideways. · Ink Cloud: ink blacks out their screen and they can’t dash.
- Stakes: both put in the same amount of $CU. The winner takes it all. A tie gives both stakes back. Friendly duels are free.
- Fair play: there’s no pausing. The server re-plays both reefs from what each player did and pays from that. Steering that arrives too late is refused, and a run that plays like the game’s autopilot is disqualified.
